U-10 Blitz 2010

U-10 Blitz in St. Mellans: We held our annual U10 blitz in St. Mellans last Saturday, 14th August. Played under sunny conditions we had 18 teams competing in an enjoyable days football.

 

The teams were divided into 5 groups, each competing to advance into the main competition or the second tier shield trophy. The 5 groups of teams were:

Group A: Emyvale A, Scotstown, Gallbally & Clan NaGael-Lurgan.

Group B: Errigal Ciaran, St. Pats-Donagh, Monaghan Harps & Armagh Harps.

Group C: Castleblayney, Dromore, Clann Eireann & Inniskeen.

Group D: Gaeil Triucha, Magheracloone & Moy.

Group E: Eire Og, Emyvale B & Clontibret.

U-10 John Treanor Cup

The 8 teams that advanced to the cup competition were: Moy, Clontibret, Clann Eireann, Gallbally, Inniskeen, Armagh Harps, Errigal Ciaran & Emyvale A.

 Quarter Final Scores:

Moy 1-5 Gallbally 1-2

Errigal Ciaran 3-6 Inniskeen 1-2

Clann Eireann 2-7 Armagh Garps 0-2

Emyvale 3-4 Clontibret 0-1.

Semi Final Scores:

Errigal Ciaran 4-4 Moy 1-6

Clann Eireann 3-5 Emyvale 1-3

Final:

Errigal Ciaran 4-2 Clann Eireann 3-3

 

Mary Treanor, on behalf of the Treanor family, presented the John Treanor memorial cup to the Clan Eireann side. Voted player of the cup competition was Clann Eireann’s Ciaran Kelly.

 

Shield Competition: 

Eight teams qualified for the shield quarter finals. They were: Monaghan Harps, Scotstown, Clan na Gael, Eire Og, Magheracloone, Gaeil Triucha, Dromore & Castleblayney.

 Shield Quarter Final Scores:

Dromore w/o Clan na Gael

Magheracloone 3-7 Monaghan Harps 1-0

Casleblayney 1-3 Scotstown 1-2

Gaeil Triucha 3-8 Eire Og 0-1

 Shield Semi Final Scores:

Magheracloone 0-5 Dromore 1-1

Castleblayney 1-8 Gaeil Triucha 1-3 AET

 Shield Final:

Magheracloone 5-2 Castleblayney 3-3

Daniel McConnon lifted the 2010 Truagh U-10 shield for Magheracloone. Voted player of the shield competition was Magheracloone’s Dylan McCaughey.
