Congratulations: to minor player, Daniel McKenna who was awarded with an Ulster College ’s All-Star 2009 at corner forward. Honours were also picked up within the club at the annual County Monaghan GAA awards last Friday night. Damien Helferty received senior referee of the year, Orla Sheerin received the accolade of camogie player of the year while the club were acknowledged as the club of the year. Best wishes to Barry Cuddy who has been included in the county squad for the 2009 League campaign.

Seniors: Our seniors lost to Castleblayney in the first round of the championship last Saturday 30/05/09 evening. Played in Clontibret, we lost out 3-5 to 2-18. Although we were leading at the 20 minute mark, Caslteblayney took full control in the second third shooting 1-7 without reply. Mark Counihan ended the game with a hatrick of goals, of which 2 were scored from penalties. Seniors:1/03/09 Our seniors were defeated for the first time this season, going down to home side Ballinascreen in the Ulster club league, 1-8 to 0-4. Our inability to take scoring opportunities cost us dearly throughout the game. By half time we had only a solitary point to show for our efforts, and were 4 points down. In the second half, we were again wasteful in front of goal, amassing 3 points to the home sides 1-3. 15/02/09Seniors: Our seniors opened their account with a win in the Ulster Senior league, beating Ardboe 2-11 to 1-13 at St. Mellans last Saturday afternoon. Ardboe started the game with great confidence going 3 points ahead, 0-4 to 0-1, after 10 minutes. Despite this, Truagh raised their performance for the remaining period of the first half to go within 1 point of the visitors at the break, 0-7 to 0-6. Truagh started the second half with scores from two freekicks, one of which resulted in a crafty goal from Mark Counihan. Ardboe then scored 1-4 without reply to lead by 4 points with 10 minutes remaining. However, Truagh showed their resilience shooting 1-4 against 0-2 in the closing period to win the game by a single point. The winning goal, scored with 3 minutes remaining, came from sub Ciaran Treanor who gathered a long ball and decisively shot to the corner of the goal to secure the win for the home side. Best for the home side were Damien McRory, Ian Treanor and Mark Counihan. Intermediate League:  Our seniors second game of the league took place on Sunday 9th March 2008 afternoon in St Mellans where they shared the points with Eire Og.  Truagh started off well leading at half time 0-05 to 0-03.  Despite facing a strong breeze in the second half Truagh were leading by 1 point until the last kick of the game when Eire Og scored the equalising point to leave the score 0-08 to 0-08

Oct 25th Intermediate League:
Our Seniors were away to Drunhowan Saturday last & came home with a good victory. The final score was Truagh 2-17  to Drunhowan 1-11.
Oct 18th; Intermediate League: On Sunday last our boy's  went to Latton to play Rockcorry, they had a successful win on a scoreline of Truagh 1-11 Rockcorry 0-12. Next match Saturday the 20th at 3 O'clock to play Drumhowan in Drumhowan.
Oct 11th; Intermediate C' Ship:  Last Sunday was Intermediate Final day between Gaeil Truicha and Tyholland. It wasn't mean't to be for Gaeil Truicha. It was a very hard faught match with some very good football played by two evenly matched team's, which saw Tyholland win out at the end by three point's. We had score's from Noel Clerkin (1-1) Barry Cuddy (0-3), Gary Meehan (0-1) Martin Owen's (0-2) and John Treanor (0-1).

Sept 27th Intermediate C' Ship: Well done to the boy's on beating Cremartin on Sunday last. Score was Truagh 1-16 Cremartin 1-10.We play Tyholland on Sunday 7th of october in the intermediate Championship Final in Clontibret at 4pm. Your support would be appreciated.

Sept 20th Intermediate C' Ship: Our boy's had a good win in the Championship last Saturday evening versus Corduff on a scoreline of 2-15 to 2-3 to Truagh. July 4th Intermediate League: Our senior team went out to play Emyvale on Sunday last in St.Oliver Plunkett Park. It was a stop start game from the word go. we had scores from Ciaran feely (0-2), John Treanor (0-1), Dermot McKenna (0-1), Gary Meehan (0-1), Niall Coyle (0-1), Paul Donaghue (0-1) and Noel Clerkin (0-2). 

Championship 2007Sunday 13th May

We crossed the first hurdle of this years Championship with a win over neighbours Emyvale and a score line of 12 points to 1--7. This was a lacklustre affair  with Truagh in the first half having 70% of the possession but failing to convert that possession into scores. Within two minutes of the start Truagh had kicked their first wide through Gary Meehan after Keith Sherrin had won the kickout. Padraig Treanor opened the scoring in the next minute when he converted a 20m free from the hands. Emyvale had two chances in the next 4 minutes but were denied the both. Keith Sherrin got possession of the next breaking ball at the kickout and this was converted to a point from play again by Padraig from about 25/30 m out.

The game was ten minutes old when Emyvale scored their first point and a minute later they were level at 2 points each. The next 5 minutes saw Truagh with 3 chances, 2 of which Bernard Treanor sent wide and a wide from Noel Clerkin with Emyvale missing one during that time. Emyvale went one ahead in the 16th minute with Padraig levelling the score from a 20m free in the 18th minute. The last 10 minutes both teams had a couple of scoring chances but apart from a fine catch by our goalie Anthony the other chances were wasted The break came with 3points each.  

Emyvale opened the scoring in the second half with a point in the 3rd minute which was followed by a point by Bernard in the 5th minute. Emyvale scored 2 without reply on the 6th and 8th minutes and our next point came from Justin Halligan in the 12th minute and he repeated again in the 13th min. Bernard kicked another wide in the 14th but found the target in the 15th minute. Barry Cuddy continued to apply the pressure with another point and Padraig scored another in the 20th min.

Emyvale came back with a with a goal punched to the net with only 5 minutes of ordinary time left leaving us 2 points adrift. Gary Meehan pointed in the 27th and emyvale closed their account with a point on the 30th min. Gary Meehan and Dermot PJ Mc Kenna scored one apiece and the game finished 0-12 to 1-7. 

B TEAM

12th July; B Team: The B's had a good win on Friday evening last against Latton in the Championship, it was a very enjoyable game with plenty  of good scores and the fan's got value for money final score was Truagh 1-16 Latton 3-8 scores for Truagh Ciaran McCarron (0-6), Barry Cuddy (0-1),Paul Donaghue (0-4),Kevin Treanor (0-1),Martin Owens (0-2),Niall Coyle (0-1),Niall McMeel (0-1) and Gary Feely (1-0).
