SFL Rd. 17: Drumhowan 1-09 Gaeil Triucha 1-11; We won our penultimate league game at the weekend, beating Drumhowan away 1-11 to 1-9. It was our first half performance that provided the basis of the win where we outscored the home side 8 points to 2. Drumhowan had opened the scoring of the game in the 10th minute, but only added their second in injury time of the 1st half. We had scored 8 successive points in the interim period, all from play from Neil McRory (3) , Niall McMeel, Daniel McKenna, Noel Clerkin and Mark Counihan (2) which left the half time score Drumhowan 0-2 Truagh 0-8.

We failed to find our rhythm of the opening half on resumption of the second and Drumhowan capitalized on it by levelling the game in the 45th minute with 6 consective points. Sub, Daniel Finnegan, then got a goal in the 52nd minute to open our second half account and put us back in the lead. However this was quickly cancelled out a minute later, when Drumhowan also scored a goal. With 3 minutes remaining Noel Clerkin put us back in front with a point. Two points inside a minute of injury time from Daniel McKenna and Mark Counihan extended our lead to 3 points. Drumhowan closed the game with a point in the 3rd minute of injury time to finish the game Drumhowan 1-9 Gaeil Triucha 1-11.

It was a valuable win for us as the two league points gained, along with other results that were meaningfully played out, mean we now regain the opportunity to play for senior status in our final game.

Our team and scorers were:

Anthony Treanor;

Niall McQuillan, Niall Feely, Rory Treanor;

Neil McRory (0-3), Barry Cuddy;

Daniel McKenna (0-2), Noel Clerkin (0-2), Mark Counihan (0-3).

Subs Used: Daniel Finnegan (1-0) for Padraig McKenna (36mins) & Christopher McKenna for Neil McRory (50 mins).
